St. Maarten Part 1

We decided to go to St. Maarten for our 10th Anniversary, because it is where we went for our Honeymoon and we had so much fun there. When we went the first time, we were 21 and 23, we didn't have any kids and no real responsibilities. So, we packed our week full of excursions and fun things and did little of just laying on the beach. Ten years later, our idea of fun has changed. =) We did a few excursions, but mostly, we just laid on the beach, swam in the ocean, and went snorkeling out in the ocean right in front of the hotel. We figured that we do enough running around with the kids, and that just doing nothing sounded good to us. We had a very relaxing time and it was nice for Jeff and I to be together, just the two of us, talking, laughing, and having fun. I know the kids also had a ton of fun without us, everyday they tell us something new they got to do while we were gone. Thanks Sheril, Kathleen, and Lindsey!! You definitely made them not miss us as much, and that made it easier for us to be gone. =)

Now for the pictures. This picture is from the balcony of our hotel. How can you not be relaxed when you are looking out at this everyday??

This is a shot from the beach out in front of our hotel. You literally walk outside and you are on the beach. SO nice!!!

Jeff checking out the water.

These sailboats were out almost everyday!

This picture is from a cliff on another part of the island. I made Jeff pull over so I could take a picture. =)

These are houses in the side of the mountains on the island...I'm not sure I would want to live in one of those houses.....

On Monday night, there was a guy playing steel drums at the cafe/bar that is attached to the hotel. They also had a yummy Caribbean BBQ that night. I took this picture from our balcony and then we went down to eat some yummy food!

After dinner Jeff & I went for a walk on the beach. Jeff thought all of the lights on the hill and the lights from the cafe would make a good picture.

These little birds were so funny. We usually drank coffee and ate breakfast out on our balcony and these little birds would come up and sit on the railing. The first day one came up and just sat there looking at us like, "Why aren't you feeding me??" From then on, we put little pieces of bread out for them to eat. They came everyday we were there!

We also saw a lot of these little lizards.

Finally, for the end of today's post, a few more scenery pictures.

Stay tuned for more vacation pictures........if you want too. =)
